"An introspective solo exhibition by Alfonso Recto, I, offers a captivating inquiry into the essence of individuality and creative expression. Through a series of 11 abstract paintings, Recto delves into the multifaceted nature of the self while symbolizing the act of making a mark as an individual within the competitive landscape of the contemporary art world. At the heart of Recto’s artistic exploration lies the fundamental gesture, the mark “I” or the letter “I” or the Roman numeral “I,” which all serve as a visual motif and a symbolic representation of selfhood. Through repetitive short lines resembling this primal symbol, Recto creates a series of striking compositions that evoke a sense of raw authenticity and primal energy."

"Drawn from the vision of arts administrator and curator Fabrianne Maglanque Morales, the show aims to explore the many facets that define a woman through an interplay of concepts ranging from power, beauty and strength. Among the works that fill up the void of whiteness are the portrait-size paintings of film and theater actor Sunshine Teodoro who has taken a personal approach by paying tribute not only to herself but to the individuals who have shaped her own journey as a woman through the bright colors of ochre, coffee, and pink in her oil-and-acrylic-on-canvas paintings."

"Last March 7, 2018, Kanto Gallery celebrated the International Women's Month through a VS Mode All Women Art Battle.
VS Mode is a fun art battle format founded by Piaget Martelino where the audience is requested to write random words on paper, the host picks and announces 1 word every 5 minutes. The artists paint live and incorporate all words into their art. The audience decides who wins.
Artists Lhean, Angge Lorente, Arco Iris and 1111 made art live. This celebration was supported by The Daily Manila Shimbun, Manila Shimbun TV, Navi Manila and T7 Music Lounge and Restaurant."
